My life is always busy and full of surprises, how do people make sure they can fit the workouts in?

Planning ahead is the key, plan your work and work your plan. Almost anytime is a good time for a workout, but I would say not too late at night since it boosts your metabolism and can affect the quality of your sleep. Morning can be better because you don't give life time to get in the way and destroy your plans, so if you are both busy and serious about the program you may want to get up early to fit it in. To operate on less sleep you should have a regular bedtime, drink plenty of water, take a short power nap once and only once per day, and believe it or not get more light into your eyes. Ever heard about those guys that go to the far north where the sun never sets and can't sleep for weeks at a time? The sunlight zaps all the melatonin from their system and they just don't feel tired. Try opening the curtains as soon as you wake up and get some light into your eyes (just like grandma used to do), and get outside for lunch or whenever you can. Strange as it sounds, this really works!

we all have exactly 24 hours in the day .. split up into 3 there is 8 hours... i have 8 hours sleep, 8hours study @ college... you probably have 8 hour shift at work ?? so that leaves 8 hours... hehehe....1 hour 4 gym leaves you 7.... time management is essential to succeeed in this.... it isn't easy and it isn't garanteed as things pop up and plans change... you just have 2 cater for this.. remember " consistency not perfection" perfection is impossible for anyone... but if u wake up late go gym in the night.. you miss a workout.. so what make sure you tomorrow... you miss a meal.. forget it carry on.... if u fall off the horse get back on...... just ake sure you keep a pattern if you keep a pattern it will be ok.. it's only when u loose this pattern you loose you way.. and slip behind.... keep plodding along you path and eventually might take a while but you will reach your destination... macca-182

I use to have a very hectic schedule as well. I would always PLAN out my week the best I could and then have a plan b, c, and d if plan A did not work.

It worked really well for me and I always got in my workout some how.

Good luck to you!

Trying early mornings. One of the worst excuses that I hear for not training is " I can't find the time." Yeah, OK, well who isn't busy? Most peole anymore have nasty schedules, find the time. Overcome the hectic schedule. Try waking up earlier in the morning to go train. Yeah, you will have to go to bed earlier, but at least your getting your work out in. Many others, and myslf included, have found that early morning workouts are best!

I agree with the others...I'm a single mom of three children, who works 12 hour shifts...hectic I know very well!! If it's something you really want, you'll find time for it!! Hang in there...it will work if you want it to!! Even if it's not exactly how the book describes each and every day...you can do it!!

God bless,
Kimberly

When I see a post like this, I remember the sections in the Body-for-LIFE book on controlling your life.

With over 100 people to manage, I find it hard to believe there are those who try to find excuses why not to take care of themselves. You have to be number one. You should eventually learn that the more fit you are mentally and physically that you will be able to do more with your life including all the responsibilities of work, marriage, children, education etc etc.... We all know the list goes on and on. It never ends folks.

Maybe one of your goals should be to finding your own self worth. You are important enough to take care of you!!!!

I care therefore I post.

i love ur phillosephy. ive always stood by that 8 hour thing. 8 hours sleep is a must ( i think its crazy that some people sleep for 4 hours and sometimes dont even sleep at all), 8 hours work is perfect (i cant understand how some people work for 16 hours (do that and were does your life go), 8 hours fee times is a must (life is about earning a living but also about living life).

i work out first thing int he mroning cos then its done and dusted and its like a weight off my shoulders cos i dont have to worry about fitting it into my shedule in the evening
